Zach Smith recovery fund

My good friend Zach had an unfortunate turn of events this week. He made it through a long tough fire season without incident, until Tuesday September 21st. Let’s rally and help him on his way to a speedy recovery! Benji

For those of you that don’t know him, and those that do Zack Smith is everybody's favorite, most positive, most curious, happiest friend! Now it's our turn to help him! His ankle and leg were severely broken while working in fuels reduction on the Ninemile Ranger District, where he has been an integral part of the wildland fire crew for four seasons. On Tuesday, September 21 Zack's health and mobility took a down turn, his right ankle was dislocated and badly fractured in multiple places, and fractured his fibula. He will have a long recovery, 4-6 months, in Missoula away from his family back in Kansas. He will undergo initial surgery soon, with more potentially on the horizon to piece him back together. We want to show our support and help him with some extra funds for his loss of work as well as healthcare and standard of living costs, hopefully adding some comfort to his recovery.
