Hurricane rips through Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Watch the first 10 seconds of this video and it will be enough for you to see the face of Hurricane Odile. Over 8000 people lost their homes. The damage and devastation to the beautiful Los Cabos area has been the worst in the peninsulas history. A Category 4, the ferocious winds reached 183m/hr.
Thank you! for taking the time to connect and read about a beautiful area and family hit hard by natural disaster. My name is Kristy Tyler and I've been friends with Jaime Lund, now Jaime Onofrey, for 19 years.
The O's consist of Father Corey, MotherJaime, daughters Ella(4) and Esmé(2) and Baby Boy Onofrey is on the way due in January!
I felt compelled to start this campaign after watching their heart wrenching journey.
They have relocated back to Vernon, BC, to prepare for the birth of their baby and rebuild their life.
Corey is in Cabo seeing what can be salvaged from their life there. It has been the first time that he has been able to get back to Cabo since the airport was extremely damaged and only emergency flights were coming in or out.
He has been looking for their "fur babies", Puddy and Lolly, the childrens first beloved kittys...and hoping that precious family photos and birth videos on hard drives were spared water damage or post hurricane looting. Possessions can be replaced over time, so please pray that they can recover what cannot be replaced.
This past summer the Onofrey's lost their young nephew in a tragic boating accident, and came home to be with family during this time of loss and attend the funeral. Corey took a leave of absence from work at the time, obviously not anticipating that a hurricane would hit their home. The enormous toll it has taken on the family is on many levels, and certainly the financial stress is a big one. The O's will have to replace many things and are in need of winter attire especially. If you are unable to donate monetarily, items such as childrens winter clothing and shoes are a big help right now. Also household items, such as a vacuum, kitchen pans, and baby items of all types(boy) are needed. Children's books and simple toys, puzzles, etc, for the two young girls would also be greatly appreciated.
Jaime is in a great deal of pain after falling down the stairs with little Esme and damaging her pelvis, and part of my mission is to relieve the current stress on pregnant mama. Being a mama myself, I can't imagine being pregnant with two young children and having to start over. Jaime is a high risk pregnancy and she is at risk for the baby coming early, so at a time when she is supposed to be resting, she is faced with exhaustion and can barely walk.
Corey needs to finish up things in Cabo, and get home to his family as soon as possible. Corey is looking forward to finding work for the family once he returns, but in the meantime, the mounting expenses are enormous of relocating and rebuilding their life.
The Onofreys are so grateful for what they do have and that their family is safe. But the family is in great need of all levels of support during this hardship. Share their story on your facebook page, with your friends and family or by email.
Please help with the enormous task ahead of them. There are many ways to help but a big one if you are able is to take a moment to donate now. Anything and everything helps. Many hands make much lighter work. I know they will be greatly appreciative for anything we do and I believe we can make a real difference.
The O's trust that they will be back on their feet soon, and the sooner they are, the sooner they can also help
Cabo families rebuild. Any surplus of funds raised from this campaign will go to help many families and where it is needed the most.
