Our friend Aimee, a single parent with an almost 10 year old son, is in need of a liver transplant. Her illness was sudden and acute. Since September she has been hospitalized on at least 5 occasions and continues to require ongoing medical treatment at least twice a week, including blood work, IV infusions, and fluid drainage around her lung. During this same period she has had to cope with her mother’s rapidly progressing Alzheimer’s, moving her mother into a memory care facility, moving out of the home she shared with her mother and son and just recently dealing with her mother’s death. Due to using all of her FMLA she was released from her near 20-year long position with Maricopa County, a job she enjoyed and had no intention of leaving.

Needless to say, it has been and continues to be a difficult time for her. She is optimistic that she will receive a transplant and be able to return to work at some point, however that time frame is unknown She does have disability payments, but she has incurred many extraordinary expenses .As her friends and long-term colleagues we are asking you for any financial assistance you can offer.
