Christmas Tragedy in Westchester
Donation protected
On Christmas morning, the popular businessman and owner of Mansion Caterers, O’Neil Bandoo was shot and killed after ousting a rowdy reveler. O’Neil (36) leaves behind his wife, Natasha Bandoo and six children.
In an interview with News 12, the mayor of Mount Vernon, Richard Thomas described O’Neil: “We lost a local hero, a family lost a father; he was a man of our city, he was a man of our community. He opened the space up [Mansion Caterers] for after school programs to help young people out.”
Family members describe O’Neil as “a gentleman, a family man, a citizen and man of integrity who was loved and admired by everyone he touched.”
O’Neil’s untimely passing has triggered an overwhelming and seemingly unmanageable amount of requests to support and show that love is stronger than rage and hate. While nothing can fill the space of O’Neil, many are looking to extend a hand to his family and children to remind them that we are there for them, that we are praying for them; and that the love they felt for O’Neil endures not just in their memories but in the memories of others as well.
We’ve created a central webpage to manage all requests for donations including ability to share written prayers and memories of O’Neil and how he has impacted their lives. In addition, we are sponsoring a candlelight vigil on Wednesday, January 4th at the Mansion Caterers at 7PM to remember O’Neil (location: 4 N 3rd Ave, Mount Vernon, NY 10550).
Our hearts are broken for O’Neil’s family and because this is our neighborhood, we are coming together to take meaningful action, reminding each other of how deeply we love each other, and how our community needs us to be our best as Americans.
