Hello, my name is Raquel Ferreira. I’m a 17-year-old high school student, and on August 30th, my father was detained by ICE while he was working in Burlington. He has been here for over 40 years and isn’t a man who belongs in those facilities. He has health conditions that may affect him while he’s there, and every day he stays, he will continue to get worse. He pays his taxes and has never broken a law. He came here in order to build a better life for himself and me, aiming for the “American Dream” and meaning no harm. He’s a kind soul who is always open to conversation and looks to help anyone.

We found a lawyer; however, the costs exceed what my mother and I can afford right now. We have around 7 days to pay off the lawyer to make sure my dad has the best chance. We are looking to raise any amount to put toward the costs of the lawyer and anything that may happen during his stay. Any help and support is appreciated greatly by his family and friends.
