One Tiny Preemie; A lot of Expenses

After Angela and Mike returned to PA from a quick trip home to collect some things, they held little Sterling for the first time. He is now 12 days old, feisty, gaining weight and relying less and less on additional oxygen.

Angela and Mike feel the overwhelming love and support they have received, and it is helping them, one day at a time, as they look at the long road ahead.

Our dear friends, Mike and Angela, were expecting their first child, Sterling, toward the end of October. But Sterling had other ideas and arrived 8 weeks early. At 2.2 pounds, he's tiny for a preemie and has a lot of growing to do before his parents can bring him home.

They have medical insurance, but there will be additional costs, including unplanned lost work to care for a premature baby once he's home. And, because he was born out-of-state, over 2 hours from home, his parents need to pay for lodging while he remains in the NICU, for at least a month.
