One table - Two great causes!

Hello, my name is Kristof, and I was fortunate enough to receive a liver transplant at the age of 2 and since I have been healthy and have found my love for table tennis. The person I am doing this 24 hours table tennis challenge for is one of my current table tennis league teammates, and good friend, Dave.

Dave was the first person who took me under his wing in the table tennis league and even though our ages are different, our personal experience of the sport is the exact same. We played in the same league team for the first time when I was 13 and ever since then we have played each year alongside one another as we keep learning and improving along the way. The time and effort he has given me over the years such as taking me to several competitions and matches just for my benefit and helping me with my first 24 hour fundraiser event, was one of the main reasons I decided to do another one, but this time also for him.

A few years ago, Dave was diagnosed with prostate cancer and completed a successful treatment without many people knowing. Seeing his resilience and determination to keep playing the sport he loves without ever giving an excuse to miss a match or training session is a true reflection of his character. Therefore, we have chosen to donate 50% of the money we raise to Prostate Cancer UK.

The other 50% of the money raised will help me to fund my participation at the European Transplant Games in Arnhem – Netherlands, at the end of June, where I will compete in men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles categories.
My latest achievement in transplant sport was winning gold in table tennis, at the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia, 2023 representing Team GB&NI for my age group. I also had the opportunity to play in the men's doubles category where me and my partner, Richard achieved bronze medal, which is one of my proudest achievements. Since the participation at the European Games is entirely self-funded, your donations will help me to pay for registration fees, flights, accommodation and any further training.

During these 24 hours both I and Dave would like to raise awareness of prostate cancer and talk openly to people about it, as it might just save someone else’s life. Equally we would like to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation, whilst we will be remembering my donor, Justin.

Any donation is gratefully received, and any funds raised will be equally split between the two causes. Even if you are not able to donate, please share mine and Dave's story and fundraising page with your friends and families, and talk about your organ donation decision with your loved ones.

We hope to see you at our fundraising event. See details below:
