My name is Morgan Brown, and I am a local environmental activist and organizer fundraising for my friend Andre, who lives in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. My activist and organizing efforts extend beyond Colorado to be both national and international. Andre and I met through those efforts, and I do what I can to support him so that he can better serve the needs of his community.
More on him and his needs:
My name is Andre Lutula Lefils, a refugee who has been living in Kakuma Refugee Camp for over 10 years.
Every day here is a fight—not just for survival, but for dignity, hope, and the chance to build something meaningful. Over the past decade, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges that families and children face in the camp—lack of proper food storage, limited resources, and few opportunities to grow. Despite these challenges, I have dedicated my life to supporting vulnerable children and families through my initiative, the Social Action Center for Vulnerable Individuals (SACVI). I have spent years organizing educational programs, creative activities, and community support efforts to help children and families thrive even in difficult circumstances. But there is one simple thing we are missing that makes life much harder than it should be: a refrigerator. Without it, food spoils within hours under the intense heat. Clean drinking water cannot stay cool. Medicines that require refrigeration cannot be stored safely. Small opportunities to earn a living—like selling cold water or juice—are impossible.
This is something I have struggled with for a long time, and I cannot achieve it alone.
This is why I am raising $2,000 USD. This amount will cover:
- The purchase of a durable refrigerator
- Basic power support due to unstable electricity
- Transport and installation
- Initial supplies to start small income-generating activities
- Not just to buy a refrigerator—but to create:
- Stability in daily life
- Better health and food preservation
- A small but sustainable source of income
- Support for community activities and children’s programs
This refrigerator will not serve me alone—it will support many people around me.
As a refugee, I have no stable income and very limited opportunities. Yet over the past 10 years in Kakuma, I have continued to work, to serve, and to believe that change is possible.
I am already actively working with children and vulnerable families through SACVI, and I am ready to share updates, photos, and progress with all supporters. This is not just an idea—it is part of a real and ongoing effort to improve lives in Kakuma. I am fully committed to using this support responsibly and transparently, and I will share updates and progress with all who stand with me on this journey.
This need is urgent. Every day without this solution means more waste, more difficulty, and missed opportunities to help others. Today, I am asking for your support.
Your donation—no matter how small—is more than money. It is hope. It is dignity. It is a step toward a better future for a community that refuses to give up.
Please donate today if you can—your support can make an immediate difference.
If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others. Your voice can also make a difference.
