One of the worlds most beautiful souls

It is our privilege and honor to introduce our sister Jana, a human being who has lived a life few would want to live. She is a most remarkable, adorably contagious, and truly innocent person you would never want to forget if you ever had the pleasure to cross paths with her.

Her five favorites in this world are:
1. Jonny Wexler, a.k.a. Moe Doodle, a.k.a. Cutie Pie (actually her first ten favorites) whom she dream about the possibility of meeting;
2. Her change purchases;
3. People being jealous of her;
4. Country music (which her older brother JT hates but listens to anyway ‘cause it’s her thing); and
5. Steve Urkel (apologizes to Jaleel White, Stefan was cool but she loves Urkel and his cousin Myrtle May).

Jana also loves the Denver Broncos and gets depressed when the Broncos lose. (JT has been a Bills fan for 35+ years.)

Jana was 7½ years old when she was hit by a car in 1986. She was flown by helicopter to a hospital where she was in ICU for three months and went into brief comatose states twice. The trauma of the accident was life-altering: doctors had to remove 27% of her brain due to massive hemorrhaging, affecting both her long- and short-term memory. Both her legs were badly shattered, enough to convince doctors that she would never walk again.

It took years with all types of therapists to help her walk and talk. Mentally, on her best days, she is still 7 years old, but she beat the doctors’ life expectancy and is still fighting some 37 years later. Her traumatic brain injury later resulted in epilepsy which limits her mobility.

The driver in the accident admitted his fault in court without contest, however the settlement was meager. An annuity was purchased to have her have some type of support as she lived, but its terms didn’t account for our sister’s lifespan.

Her mother became her full-time caregiver. Her father faded from her life ten years after the accident. Her mom convinced herself that the world wanted to hurt her daughter and that only she could save her, preventing her brothers from being in their sister’s life. It wasn’t the healthiest of environments for Jana. Years went by and the brightness of her soul started to fade. The mental trauma was cemented.

On Christmas Eve 2020 her mom passed away to Covid. JT quit his job, moved in with her, and became her legal guardian. He provides 24/7 care to make sure that she won’t be placed in a home. Her oldest brother James does what he can to help. Both her brothers are doing their best to make sure that she is happy and cared for. We just want to give her a life of comfort without stress.

Jana loves Colorado but the cost of living is very difficult with a fixed income. Her mom purchased a condo using what was left of the settlement, and the annuity has helped to pay the mortgage. There simply isn’t enough money to pay for shelter, food, clothing, household items, doctors’ appointments, and medicine every month. We are asking for your help. We would love to be able to show her how amazing people all over this earth realize that a soul this beautiful shouldn’t live their life like this. We deeply appreciate anyone who has taken the time to read, share, and possibly donate to a truly innocent human who has persevered through everything life threw at her. All she knows is love at this point.

The accident forever affected our family but its damage affected her so much more. We are begging the Bills mafia, the Broncos Country – Mr. Payton, please work your magic – and her favorite musicians Jimmy Buffet and Garth Brooks to please show some soulshine her way.
