About the BHF

For some, the gift of tomorrow is not guaranteed. Heart conditions, diagnosed or not, mean you can leave your house in the morning, and never return home.

In recent times, we at Donaghadee Golf Club have been directly touched by such tragic and devastating loss. Given these unplanned set of circumstances that do happen, we have recently installed a defibrillator at the club in an attempt to provide someone a second chance.

Every day in NI, 11 families lose a loved one to cardiovascular conditions.

But, thanks to the research the BHF funds, there is hope. The tools we have at our disposal today - from heart transplants and pacemakers to stents and portable defibrillators - are all down to research. When you support the BHF, you give the world’s brightest scientific minds the best chance of transforming ideas into lifesaving treatments and cures that could make the difference to families everywhere.

Your donation will fund research at Queen’s University, Belfast and our wider work. This includes our online, innovative and accessible CPR training programme, RevivR. It also includes the Circuit which provides the NHS ambulance services with vital information about defibrillators across NI so that in those crucial moments after a cardiac arrest, they can be accessed quickly to help save lives.
