One more jump for Mikka

We are reaching out on behalf of one of our group members.

Her name is Michaela Meijer, she is a two-time olympian in the women's polevault. She holds the swedish national record with a mark of 4.83m.

We are a polevault group from the city of Göteborg in sweden, the group has been going strong for over 35 years and has a wide diversity of athletes. They compete in all levels, from the local youth-competition on a wednesday night to the roaring Olympic stadium.

Boys and girls from 15 to 35 years old, all with different personalities and from different backgrounds have came togheter and formed a bond, strong as a family of their own, and in the center of all this we find Michaela.

Mikka is everything that defines our group, she is always there for all the other athletes, she comes along to all the competitions to support and cheer on the others and she has showed us how far you can go if you put your heart and your soul into what you love.

But she cannot jump....

About a year and a half ago, she injured her foot during a competition, the navicular bone in her right foot was split in half.

The doctors made a poor job with the diagnosis and a surgery was made that injured the bone even further.

After yet another surgery the new doctor discovered complications in the joint due to the first surgery.

Bone fragments have cut into the cartilage in the joint between the talus bone and the navicular bone.

To save the joint and any chance for Michaela to jump, yet even walk again, another surgery needs to be made.

The problem is the insurance company.

Since it's been over a year since the injury, the company will no longer cover any costs. Even though the complications is a result of a misdiagnosis and a catastrophic executed surgery, the answer is still no...

The cost for the final surgery is steep...we have manged to raise about half of the cost through our club and personal savings but we are still 6.000€ short.

We are asking for your help to give Mikka a last chance to pursue her dream of getting back to her true place, a place on the runway.

All donations will go into the surgery and the following rehabilitation.
