My name is Mina George Ebrahim. As a political opponent and a member of a minority I had to flee from Egypt following the coup in 2013. I was granted refugee status by the German Administrative Court of Trier in 2017 and thought I could focus on what was important: for years I was one of the loudest voices in Europe exposing the crimes of the current Egyptian regime under dictator Abdel Fattah el-Sissi ,Since arriving in Switzerland in 2023, I face the same rejection of international protection under the 1951 Geneva Refugee Convention.

European governments prioritize business with Sisi's dictatorship—including massive arms sales—over protecting refugees like me who oppose its abuses.

Key Facts:

1. Germany's Arms Deals with Egypt (2017–2019):Germany approved €708 million in arms exports to Egypt in 2017 (fourth-largest recipient worldwide), only €14 million in 2018, but surged to €802 million in 2019 (third-largest). These included submarines, frigates (e.g., MEKO A-200 from ThyssenKrupp), missiles, and defense systems, strengthening Sisi's military despite human rights concerns.

2. Sisi Regime's Record of Abuses:The regime has committed widespread killings, arbitrary imprisonments, torture, and corruption. Security forces carried out extrajudicial executions (e.g., suspicious "shootouts" targeting opponents) and detained tens of thousands politically, with reports of torture, enforced disappearances, and prison deaths due to denial of medical care. Corruption thrives as the military controls much of the economy, fueling inequality and protests crushed with mass arrests.

3. Impact on My Asylum: Germany's refusal to renew my residency stemmed from these ties, exposing me to deportation risks and loss of healthcare/ stability. In Switzerland, despite the Geneva Convention's non-refoulement principle (no return to persecution), protection has been denied, leaving me vulnerable.

This pattern shows how economic interests undermine asylum rights. I urge awareness and support for fairer policies—share my story to demand accountability.

What do I need ?
I am not asking for luxury. I am asking to survive and to continue the work that forced me to flee Egypt in the first place:
  • Pay rent so I do not end up on the street this winter
  • Basic food and hygiene
  • Legal fees to fight for my legal status
  • Continue my human-rights documentation so the crimes in Egypt are not forgotten while German companies profit

If I am forced to stop speaking, or if I continue homeless and broken, the regime wins twice: once in Egypt, and once in the heart of Europe.
Every euro you donate keeps an independent voice alive and shows the German government that silencing refugees for the sake of business with dictators will not go unnoticed.
This fundraiser is literally about survival — and about proving that courage and truth still have a place in Europe.

Please help me stay alive and keep fighting.
Mina George
Egyptian political refugee, betrayed by the country that was supposed to protect him.

Everyone who knows my case — including German human-rights organizations and several members of the Bundestag — told me the same: Germany has dramatically deepened its economic and military relationship with the Sisi regime in the last 5 years (Siemens, Rheinmetall, Mercedes, the €8 billion arms deals, the new gas contracts, the migration-control agreements). Voices that loudly criticize Sisi have become “inconvenient.” Instead of protecting a recognized political refugee, the German government chose business and diplomacy with a dictator over its own asylum laws.
