One Last Shot to Save My Kids’ Futures

From Stability to Crisis—Protect Our Family from Homelessness
We’ve come so far—now we’re about to lose everything. My name is Jonathan, and I’m a single father doing everything I can to give my two incredible children a better life. They are smart, kind, and full of potential—and they deserve a chance to thrive. We’ve come so far, but now we’re facing eviction, and I’m reaching out for help to keep our home and their future intact.
After years of battling for custody, I was finally granted full guardianship of my kids in August 2023. I moved us into a safe, clean neighborhood with great schools and a supportive community. For the first time, my children felt secure. They began to flourish—earning honors, making friends, and building the kind of life every child deserves.
I worked hard to make this possible. I took on a demanding role in facility maintenance, where I quickly rose through the ranks. I was trusted with critical responsibilities and loved what I did. But behind the scenes, I was being bullied by someone I considered my best friend (the man in the pictures with the long hair and mustache) and ride or die, who was my boss despite conflict-of-interest policies in the corporate rules. Despite my efforts to stay professional and focused on my work, the situation escalated.
Eventually, I would be wrongfully terminated over a technicality—using my phone while parked on a forklift in an empty lot (picture taken shortly before, by my best friend, will be included), a task I was instructed to do by my boss. The termination that was initiated by my best friend of 25 years, occurred while I was on the second day of my disability coverage, recovering from surgery caused by stress-related health issues. I lost my career, my income, and my ability to support my family overnight. My 2008 Odessey broke down the day after my surgery and is still not fully operational.
A month later, my best friend who got me the job, and then maliciously took it away, chose to take his own life. He left me a few days before his birthday, shortly before Christmas 2024. In the blink of an eye, the most consistent figure in my day to day, for over 2 decades, would be gone forever. I will have to go the rest of my life never knowing or understanding why he did what he did, to me, and to himself.
Since then, I’ve been fighting to get back on my feet. I’ve applied to countless jobs, gone through multiple interviews, and each time it ends with the obligatory “Thank you for (applying/interviewing/your interest), but….”. This week alone I have had 2 in person interviews, which both required 3 phone interviews prior to an in person interview.
The most promising interview yet, for a wastewater operator, at a local wastewater treatment facility, was yesterday, Friday July 25th, 2025. If all goes well, I could start by the end of August, as it is a government job that requires 4 to 6 weeks to vet the appropriate candidate, but that’s just beyond the deadline we’re facing.
I have averaged roughly 20 initial phone interviews, probably 4 to 6 follow up phone calls, and at least 1 in person interviews a week, for months now, and I apply for multiple listings across multiple platforms daily (I will attach my full, unrefined resume with this).
We’re now over three months behind on rent. Our landlord has been incredibly kind and patient, but she can’t wait any longer as she has to answer to the bank. We’ve received notice of eviction, and unless we can raise the funds to catch up, we’ll lose our home—the home that gave my kids a chance to escape the cycle of poverty and trauma they were destined to be trapped in had they stayed where they were.
I’m not asking for a handout—I’m pleading for a lifeline to prevent two amazing young adults with so much potential from being displaced and made into tragic statistics. Every dollar raised will go directly toward rent and repaying family members who’ve helped cover utilities and essentials. Our goal is $8,000: $6,500 for rent and $1,500 to repay those who’ve supported us during this crisis.
If you’ve ever wondered whether your donation could truly change someone’s life—this is that moment. Your support will keep a roof over our heads, stability in my children’s lives, and hope alive for a better future.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us hold on to the life we’ve worked so hard to build. Together, we can make sure this journey doesn’t end with an eviction notice.”
