As Oldcastle Gfc and Oldcastle Ladies Gfc have grown over the years, they have outgrown both the pitch in Gilson Park, and the newer pitch here at Millbrook. With over 250 juvenile players plus senior teams requiring space for regular training and matches, our new juvenile pitch is now a much-needed addition to our playing space.
Our walking track extension is also a great facility for our community, and will be for decades to come. The biodiversity garden and seating beautify the space, and provide a calming and serene place to sit and admire the view. The addition of bird boxes and feeders plus insect habitats will ensure it becomes a haven for the local wildlife.
Our safety fencing along the river Inny provides a view of this beautiful watercourse, while ensuring safety for all. A huge amount of work has been carried out here at Millbrook over the past few years, enabled by the generosity of our members towards club fundraisers, in particular our Walkathon last year, which raised €42,000 towards this project.
This huge development is now nearing the end, with some final jobs to be carried out. We need to install goalposts and nets on our new pitch, build a safety fence along the road, and upgrade the driveway in to the clubhouse. Another successful Walkathon will allow us to complete these jobs, and hopefully clear much of the money spent on Millbrook in recent years.
Once again, a huge thank you to each and every one of you who are helping us in our fundraising efforts. Many hands make light work, and when the Oldcastle Gfc community comes together we can do great things. It is much appreciated.
Thank you – Oldcastle Gfc and Oldcastle Ladies Gfc.
