I am a former police officer, and I know firsthand what it means to serve your community, to stand in harm’s way, and to give everything you have for something bigger than yourself. Today, I’m asking for help to save a horse who did exactly that.

This horse is a former mounted police unit horse currently sitting in a Texas kill pen—despite years of honorable service protecting communities, crowds, and fellow officers. After carrying an officer through parades, patrols, and public service, he now faces an unthinkable end. No officer—human or horse—deserves to be forgotten after serving their country and community.

Mounted unit horses are more than animals. They are partners. They are calm in chaos, brave in uncertainty, and loyal beyond measure. This horse stood steady when the world was loud and unpredictable. Now he needs someone to stand up for him.

My dream is to bring him home—not only to give him safety, care, and dignity—but to continue his purpose in a meaningful way. I am part of a rodeo drill team, and I have been searching for the right partner for a long time. The idea of carrying our country’s flags with a fellow officer—one who has already served—is incredibly meaningful to me. Together, we would honor service, sacrifice, and the bond between horse and handler in front of communities across the country.
