One last act of kindness for Cubby.

Even in death, they deserve dignity, love, and respect.

Most of the stories we share here are about second chances; cats who survive and go on to find safety; but sometimes, despite doing everything right, that second chance never comes. This is Cubby’s story.

Cubby was a gentle soul. I had been feeding her for the past six months. She knew me. She would run toward me when she saw me coming, waiting for food.

One day, my world turned upside down. I went to feed in that area and found Peach, one of my cats, lying face down in a dustbin. She was barely alive. I rushed her to the vet, where it was confirmed she had been deliberately poisoned with rat poison. Peach didn’t make it.

Even through the shock and grief, I knew I had to check on the others. I couldn’t leave them. That’s when I found Cubby. She was barely breathing. I knew immediately what had happened.

I rushed her to an emergency vet close to midnight. The team tried everything they could. She fought for three hours and then she was gone.

The heartbreak is heavy, but we can’t stop. We can’t take breaks. There are still animals out there who need help and even now, I still have Cubby’s emergency bill to cover.

This fundraiser is not about saving Cubby. It’s about honoring her. One last gesture. One final act of kindness for a cat who mattered.
