One In A Milly

Amelia turning 3 was going to be bitter sweet for me. Turning 3 means she aged out of Missouri First Steps, which is an AMAZING program that helps families like ours navigate our journey through having a beautiful child with special needs. They set up therapist for Amelia’s special needs and help guide you through the early development and education of your child. This program is EXTREMELY discounted and is a huge reason why it is only in place for birth to 3 years. Our next step is to send Amelia to an ABA center to help her continue to progress and navigate with her Autism, Global Developmental Delay, and speech impairment. As many of you know our health insurance does NOT cover her therapy needs. This is an extremely expensive NECESSARY therapy for Amelia to give her the best functioning future possible. Well we were given an amazing opportunity and blessing!! Our wonderful therapist through Missouri First Steps have offered to keep Amelia on through them for 20 hours a week for HALF the cost it was going to be to send her to a center!! So many of you have heard our story, cheered us on, been EXTREMELY generous and sent us nothing but positive vibes, love, encouragement and prayers. I don’t know if I can ever fully make all of you understand how so grateful my family and I are. This has been one of the hardest life challenges we have ever been forced to deal with. Then to have our insurance deny any coverage for our sweet Amelia, knowing without it, it will change her future was heartbreaking. To know what we needed for her was financially out of our reach was more then any parent should have to be dealt with. We were facing a $48,000 bill to get Amelia 1 year of therapy for 20 hours a week. With all the help from ALL of you we were able to raise $18,000!!!!! I can’t even believe it!! We have every single dollar in a medical savings account for Amelia that can only be taken out for her medical needs!! Because of our amazing therapist and their HUGE hearts and love for sweet Amelia we need a total of $24,000 for a whole year of 20 hours a week of therapy!! We are only $6,000 away from giving her all the help she needs for a year!!! Above everything else I am so proud to spread Awareness of Autism and knowledge to so many people who don’t understand or have had any experience with it before. I have made some amazing connections and friendships this year that have changed my life and I hope we made an impact on yours!! So please continue to spread our story, help this beautiful sweet amazing little girl who has shown me that no matter what darkness you are facing there is a strength and light that is always with you!! Amelia has taught me so much about unconditional love, vulnerability, strength, and above everything HOPE!!!! Thank you to everyone from the very bottom of our hearts!! All of you have made our little slice on earth better because of your support and faith in my family and our little Milly!!!!
