While our daughter, our oldest child, fights leukemia and our youngest son recovers from a life-threatening heart condition, our oldest son is trying to hold onto the future he worked so hard for.
Our family has been hit with multiple life-altering challenges all at once.
Our daughter, Isabel, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (A.L.L.) just days after her birthday. What started as a normal week quickly turned into a fight for her life. She was airlifted to Loma Linda, where she has endured aggressive chemotherapy. After multiple treatment attempts that didn’t go as hoped, and a brain hemorrhage, she is now preparing for CAR-T therapy, a critical next step in her fight.
At the same time, our 16-year-old son experienced a terrifying medical emergency when his heart suddenly stopped. He has since been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia and had to undergo surgery to have a pacemaker placed.
As parents, we have had to step away from work and are currently on FMLA so we can be present for our children during these life-threatening moments. Being there for them is not optional—it’s everything.
And in the middle of all of this…
Our oldest son is standing at the edge of his future.
He has worked hard, stayed focused, and earned his acceptance into a private university to pursue his dream in the biomedical field. Despite everything happening around him, he has remained strong, committed, and determined not to let these circumstances define or delay his path.
But the reality is—we are in a position where we cannot financially support this next step the way we had planned.
This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do—ask for help.
But right now, our family is fighting on multiple fronts: a daughter battling cancer, a son recovering from a life-threatening heart condition, a son holding on to his future and as parents, we are trying our best to navigate all the emotional, physical, and financial strains these circumstances have brought.
We are asking for support to help cover: tuition gaps not covered, basic living support as we navigate medical and caregiving needs for Isabel.
Every $1 counts! Even if it’s just one.
We are choosing to remain strong. We are choosing faith. And we are choosing to believe that our children’s futures are still bright—even in the middle of this storm.
Thank you for standing with our family.
With love and gratitude,
The Chambless Family ❤️
