Hi, my name is Collette Woodward, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my uncle, Michael Proulx, and his family as they face an incredibly difficult time.

Mike was recently diagnosed with a large low-grade glioma located on the motor strip of his left frontal lobe. He is scheduled to undergo an awake craniotomy—a complex and delicate brain surgery. Afterward, the family will be anxiously awaiting pathology results to determine the next steps in his treatment.

Right now, both Mike and his wife Amanda are on leave from work. Their focus is entirely on Mike’s health and on caring for their children during this uncertain journey. Amanda will be Mike’s only caretaker as he recovers—balancing his medical needs with caring for their home and five boys.

A Dedicated Husband, Father, Veteran & Provider

Mike has always been the provider for his family—working hard to ensure his children and wife are safe, cared for, and supported. One of his greatest fears right now is not being able to continue providing for them during his recovery. That worry weighs heavily on him as he faces surgery and an uncertain road ahead.

Mike is also a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served 8½ years as an Army Engineer. His dedication to service didn’t stop with his military career—he’s devoted his life to his family and has always been the first to show up for others.

This incredible family has already faced so much. In 2019, Amanda was diagnosed with breast cancer, and Mike was her rock throughout treatment. Now, Amanda is standing strong for Mike—as his only caregiver and partner of 23 years.

They are the proud parents of five amazing boys—ages 18, 17, 12, and 9-year-old twins. Mike is also the father of two grown sons.

They’ve always given their all to their family and friends. Now it’s our turn to give back.
