This is Christina Fisher aka Chrissy. I am forming this fundraiser for my mom, Diana Wright and my dad, Ralph Wright. My dad has been in a fight for his life for several weeks now its all coming to an end. I need help rebuild my mom’s entire world. She has to move out of the apartment they shared and were asking for donations for changing things around the house to make it safer and handicapped accessible for her as well as funeral expenses. We are having one end of life and one beginning anew.
Approximately three weeks ago, our lives changed in a way we never could have imagined.
What began as chest pain quickly became something much more difficult. After being reassured that initial testing appeared normal, my dad underwent a heart catheterization procedure. Following that hospitalization, our family began noticing changes that felt unimaginable to witness. The man we knew—kind, gentle, compassionate, and full of love—began struggling in ways we did not recognize. Over the following weeks, his condition continued to decline.
Today, we find ourselves in a place we never thought we would be. My dad, Ralph, is now in hospice care and in his final stages of life.
Before illness entered this chapter, my dad’s story was one of perseverance, service, faith, and love.
He lost his mother at only 7 years old and grew up with very little, but he refused to let hardship define his life. He enlisted in the Army and served during the Vietnam War. During his time overseas, one of the ways he showed love was through cooking—feeding his fellow soldiers, his “brothers,” and creating comfort wherever he could.
After returning home, he pursued that passion and attended respected culinary schools to become a chef. Cooking wasn’t just his career—it was how he cared for people. Family, friends, neighbors, strangers—if you knew Ralph, chances are he fed you.
But more than anything, he was devoted to his family.
He was an incredible husband who loved my mom, Diane, faithfully through 58 years of marriage. He was a wonderful father, an amazing grandfather to 4 grandchildren, and a proud great-grandfather to 8 children. Five sassy girls and three resilient boys.
For 25 years, my mom and dad faithfully attended Maize Road Baptist Church. My dad volunteered to feed the homeless, served as a Deacon, and lived his faith through action. He truly never met a stranger and always offered kindness wherever he went.
Even during his hardest moments, there were brief glimpses where we could still see our dad through the illness—and his words were always the same:
“Take care of your mom.”
“Take care of your grandma.”
“Take care of Diane.”
That was who he was until the very end—thinking of others before himself.
If you’re unable to donate, please don’t feel obligated. Your prayers, love, and support mean more than we can express. But if you are able to contribute, donations will help support my mom during this difficult time and help us carry out my dad’s final wishes with dignity and honor.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and remember the beautiful life of Ralph.
The viewing will be Thursday, June 18th 12:00 to 2 with service at 2. McWilliams funeral home, 125 E. 1st Street, Wellston, Ohio 45692
