Help Me Buy My First Home Before 30!

"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take!"

Well… this is extremely awkward. Seriously though, I’m not even sure where or how to start asking for help, but here goes nothing…

Because... “The more shots you take, the better you'll be at shooting.”

Hi everyone,

My name is Logan Brown and I’m reaching out with a big goal and an even bigger dream: to buy my very first home before I turn 30! Yeah, I know—I’m getting old.

Quick Update on the Last Two Years — Because, Why the Sudden Move, Right?

This might come as a shock to many, especially since I haven’t been very active on social media lately.

It was in 2023 that I met the love of my life, Ruby Nakole Bornhoft. From the moment we met, I knew I was in love—and I’ve never looked back since. I've only looked forward, imagining our future together. We met at work, and from that day on, my life has been filled with happiness and love. Anyone who has seen us together can 100% confirm this!

At the beginning of 2025, the two of us moved away from Colorful Colorado—a place I proudly called home for the last 29 years of my life. I had always wanted to buy a home there and build a future. But life checked me into the boards, and reality hit me with some tough decisions.

After weighing the pros and cons, I realized I wasn’t as stuck as I thought I was. Moving turned out to be the next big step in our lives together. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done—yet, at the same time, the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I left my entire family and all of my friends back in Colorado—but not before they reminded me to embrace this new chapter with pride and confidence.

Thank you all for your support, guidance, and encouragement. I miss every person, every view, every smell. As each day passes, it doesn’t necessarily get easier—but it does fuel my motivation to build a beautiful life in this new part of the world.

Fast Forward 6 Months.

The two of us have been working non-stop overtime for the last six months, just to get into contract on our favorite house in the city—only to lose it on closing day. That was tough. But everything happens for a reason, and just a month later, the actual house of our dreams came on the market just outside the city!

Ruby and I are now in contract, and we’re so close to the finish line. Our closing date is set for August 15th!

First and foremost, for anyone this message reaches—more than likely, at some point in our lives, we've crossed paths. And when we did, I’m hoping (and praying) that I made a positive impact on you. I sincerely hope that when you hear the name Logan Brown, it brings back good memories from some point in our lives together. I know this post could reach people from so many different phases of my life—and that’s both scary and exciting all at once!

Let’s continue chronologically… 01/17/1996 → Present
(I’ll leave out specific names, but you know who you are!)

A-Town
My first thoughts go out to my family and childhood friends from when I lived in Aurora and went to Sunrise Elementary. Most of you are honestly still around that area, and I love that, because that’s where I was born and raised. I grew up rollerblading on the bike paths to school, playing Dreamcast, shooting hoops in the driveway, playing roller hockey in the neighborhood and being home before the streetlights came on . You all gave me the street smarts and cultural love every kid needs. I moved from Aurora to Larkspur after first grade at age 7—and that was a major transition from city life to the mountains.

Larkspur Friends and Family
You’ve honestly had a massive impact on me and on who I am today. If you grew up in Larkspur, you know that words can’t fully capture how lucky I was to be raised alongside all of you. I have a billion memories from this era—my Perry Park people especially. All my fellow Larkspur Elementary students—we had it so good. A sledding hill at recess? Wild to think about now. Quack! Quack! Quack! Goooo Ducks!

To the teachers, faculty, and staff who taught me to always enjoy the process of learning something new and how to always improve , my Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops who taught me real-life skills. To the thousands of kids I played hockey and baseball with and to all the girls who broke my heart and i broke yours—thank you. Larkspur wouldn't have been the same without you.

We still used landlines back then, spent long weekends system linking Xboxes together, running around the red rocks like wild animals in the back yard, and crashing dirt bikes... the whole nine yards. I have the scars to prove it.

Middle School Phase
Oh gosh, where do I start? Social media was just starting. So many EMO-tions, new hockey teams, new sports, new friends… This was before we had cars but right as we got cell phones ( Great Grandma bought me a Silver razor)—so we were just learning how to live freely.

I started skating and hanging out “in town” all the time. I spent long weeks during the summers on what I still think is the coolest ranch in the world. Lots of you welcomed me into your homes like family, and I’d do the same for you in a heartbeat.

Shoutout every single last one of my school bus drivers for putting up with me and my friends until i turned 16, you're all godsend. Since none of us could drive yet, infinite memories were made taking home the buses together, in multiple large groups going wherever we could go to hang out. These are experiences I wouldn’t trade for anything.

High School Blast from the Past
I’m guessing this might reach many of my high school classmates, especially since social media really exploded during those four years. I could go through my Castle View yearbook and recall fun, exciting memories with nearly every person in it. The school was just big enough that we all knew each other.

My homeroom was based in the library after freshman year—we were spoiled. Honestly, I had the perfect high school experience, though I didn’t realize it until years later after i graduated in 2014.

To my core group—and basically everyone who had an animal nickname—every single one of you is welcome in my future home. You’re all a bunch of badass people with totally different lives now and I'm ready to catch up on all the lost time. Fun fact: the place I’m trying to move to actually used to be called Possum Trot because of the abundance of opossums in the area. I couldn’t make that up if I tried. And if you haven’t guessed it already—yes, my nickname in high school was "Possum." - A.K.A "Dog" -- don't ask i wont tell.

If you have a fun memory of us, please share it with me! That memory is worth more to me than any dollar amount.

The Last 10 Years

I’ll be blunt—I know I had more in me. I’m not quite impressed with myself yet. But I think I may have impacted more people in my adulthood than I actually realize.

When I moved out at 18, I lived with friends and started college—did the normal stuff: got a job, paid bills, etc. When I started bartending, it clicked. I loved the service industry, even though I had no idea what I was doing at first.

In the 10 years since, I’ve met every walk of life while bartending. I’ve been lucky to hold onto long-time friendships because of it. And now, as I write this, I wonder: who will come across this?

An old bar regular? A former coworker or manager? Someone from when I worked at Perry Park Country Club, Brothers, Hacienda, Lazy Dog, or where I currently work—BigShots? Maybe a fellow motorcyclist, someone from my videography days, or even a teammate from a hockey tournament? Simply a fellow friend along the way. Or a family member that isn't technically family but we call each other family anyways! Possibly someone from Ruby's side of the family! The List goes on and on but so has this article so if your still reading this I'm very grateful for your time and all jokes aside your money.

The possibilities are endless. That’s why I’m giving this a shot.

The Shot

If every person I made a positive impact on gave just $1, it could make a huge difference in building my future—in a home I can finally call my own.

Owning a home is something I’ve worked toward for over a decade, while renting and paying over $100,000 just to keep a roof over my head. It’s my turn.

I’d love to say I’m amazing at saving money—but I’m just average at it. Same with budgeting. I’m learning and improving, but it’s 2025 now, and at almost 30 years old, I have no more excuses.

With rising housing costs, unexpected life expenses, and the harsh realities of today’s market, I’ve realized I could use a little help to cross the finish line.

A lot of close family and friends have asked how they can help—and naturally, I’ve always said no and moved on. But this is me, honestly asking for help. Unfortunately, it’s a financial situation, which means I’m asking for something incredibly valuable: your hard-earned money. Please if there is any questions, comments, or concerns about this, just reach out to me directly, as I am an open book!

This home isn’t just a place to live—it’s a foundation for the next chapter of my life. A place my two dogs can love and enjoy as much as I will. A home I can raise a family in and be proud to show off to my parents and friends when they come out to visit me. A place where Ruby and I can transform our vision into something real—something lasting, a Dream into a Reality.

The Goal

I’m hoping to raise $1,000 to start. If I never reach that goal, that’s okay—everything happens for a reason. But if I do reach it, and it grows into something more, I’ll know it was meant to be.

If you’ve ever had a dream that felt just out of reach, then you know how much this means.

Where's your money going?

All gifted funds will go directly into reserves for the home purchase. This is a crucial step to ensure I meet lending requirements and am financially prepared throughout the final stages. Your generosity means the world to me—thank you!

If you're able to give a larger donation and we’re not immediate family or donating anonymously I may need a quick gift letter to meet my lender's requirements. It’s nothing complicated—just a simple note in the words of support box confirming it’s a gift. Thank you again for your generosity and support!

Whether you’re able to donate or simply share my story—thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Your support, in any form, means more than words can express. I’m confident in this big step, and I believe in the life Ruby and I are building. But I also know that having a financial cushion could make all the difference in navigating any unexpected costs that might come up before closing. Thank you again for being part of this journey—your encouragement is helping me achieve a lifelong dream: becoming a homeowner!

Much Love,
Logan Brown

P.S. Mom & Dad — I love you more than words can say so I wont bother trying to type that out. Everything I am, and everything I’m becoming, is because of the love, strength, and values you instilled in me. As I take this leap and buy a home in a land far from where we started, I carry your lessons and your unwavering support with me. I trust my intuition because you taught me how. I lead with confidence because you showed me what it looks like. I can’t wait to welcome you into this new chapter—into my home—for holidays, celebrations, and the moments that matter most. I’ll keep making you proud. Always and foreve...but with out the "R" because that would be the end!
