Chance, A Community Cat Fighting for His Life

I wish this was a happy rescue story… but Chance is a severely unwell community cat battling Wet FIP, and right now he urgently needs support to continue the fight for his life.

Chance is a 7 year old community cat who has been cared for and fed by Weihao who recently noticed Chance was injured and unwell. On Sunday night Chance was safely trapped so he could finally receive help.

Since then, Monique has been providing a loving, calm home and daily care while we worked with vets to understand what Chance was facing. With no rescue currently able to take him, I have been organising and covering his urgent veterinary treatment so he has a real chance at survival

Right now Chance weighs only 3.5kg… skin, bones and fur, which is dangerously underweight for an adult male cat. He has open wounds on three paws, a bloody nose, bruised gums, compromised breathing and multiple signs of severe illness. I can even begin to imagine the pain and what he has been enduring

After urgent testing and X-rays at Cat Lovers Vet Clinic in Frankston, Chance was diagnosed with Wet FIP, a life-threatening disease that has left his immune system significantly compromised. He also has fluid in his abdomen and requires intensive treatment over approximately 12 weeks, with no guarantees. Despite everything, Chance is still fighting and showing strong signs he wants to survive

Chance needed sedation for diagnostics and wound care, which allowed his injuries to be properly treated and cleaned. In that quiet moment he accepted gentle cuddles… a small but powerful reminder of the loving cat still inside a very sick body.

Costs so far: $1,017.41 in just three days

This includes blood tests, X-rays, wound treatment and his first week of life-saving FIP medication. Receipts will be uploaded for full transparency.

Chance continues to be cared for by Moniqe while he stabilises. We will also need to find an experienced ongoing carer confident administering medication to a spicy but very deserving boy, as current foster homes are already at capacity.

Any donation or share helps give Chance the opportunity to complete his treatment and finally experience safety, comfort and care.

Thank you for standing behind him
