One Big Loss, One Big Responsibility, and a Lot of Expenses
Donation protected
With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of our beloved mother, Indy Carter’s, passing. On March 20th in the early morning, she left us unexpectedly due to complications with her diabetes. Indy wasn't just the most courageous mother, but also the most loyal friend to all who knew her. Her love, generosity, and strength were felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and losing her so unexpectedly has left my brother and I's world shattered.
To say my brother and I's hearts are broken is an understatement. Not only are we trying to grieve the loss of our mom, but we are also left with many various financial challenges. The cost of the funeral, the copious amounts of hospital bills, the never-ending legal fees, and many other expenses have us feeling unprepared. Without our father's help, we’re left to handle everything on our own, and the weight of it all is truly overwhelming.
One of the most pressing issues we now face is assuming legal guardianship of my younger brother, Benjy, who is only 14 years old. Given the age difference—I'm 20—we've decided it's in Benjy's best interest for us to take on this responsibility. However, this decision comes with its own set of legal challenges and associated costs, which are adding further strain to an already difficult situation. The additional legal fees to secure legal guardianship are significant, but we feel it's the right thing to do, ensuring Benjy has the stability and care he deserves moving forward.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community, friends, and family, many of whom have already offered their condolences and help in other ways. But now, we’re humbly asking for any financial assistance that could help us cover these necessary expenses. Your donations will allow us to give our mom the memorial she deserves and help us regain some stability during this painful time.
Indy Carter was the nucleus of our family. She had a special way of making those around her feel like the most important people in the world, and she would've given anything to make sure they were taken care of and happy. She gave my brother and I the confidence to be our genuine selves, taught us what it meant to be truly selfless, and how to "love with every fiber of our being." Her passing has left an irreplaceable hole in our hearts, but we’re determined to keep her memory alive by supporting each other, just as she would have wanted.
We are so very grateful for any support you can offer, whether it’s through a donation or by simply sharing this page with others. Your kindness and generosity will help us more than words can express. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being there for us during this incredibly difficult time.
