Hi, my name is Garry, and my life changed overnight. A few days ago, I suffered a serious hip fracture that required emergency surgery. One moment I was living my normal life, and the next, I was in excruciating pain and being rushed to the hospital by ambulance. The surgery is done, and I’m grateful to be alive and on the road to recovery. But now reality has set in: I can’t walk without assistance, and my job is very physical. I own a small cleaning business, and if I can’t work, I don’t earn. The doctors say it could take 4–6 months before I can safely return to heavy work, which means months without income to pay for bills, rent, groceries, and basic needs.
