Oncology Nurses At Calvery Mater Newcastle
Donation protected

Hi, my name is Shane and i'm currently a Cancer Survivor.
My journey started in December 2023 when i was dignosed with a very rare and very dangerous Ewing Sarcoma in my neck, which was very difficult to treat.
I've undergone major surgery, had to endure 12 months of Chemo, 4 weeks of Radiation treatment everyday throughout all of 2024 and unfortunately have been through one of the most aggresive treatment regaimes the hospital has seen.
I am a father of two awesome little people, A husband to a super supportive wife, and a son to two amazing parents.
I am now 6 months clear and have started to gain my "new" normal life.
This is for the AMAZING nurses who looked after me everyday i was in hospital undertaking treatment for this horrific cancer. The oncology nurses are absolute angels, they do their job everyday with poise and professionalism and sometimes heartache, They help you understand the complexities of treatment, they talk you through each step and onlong the way they become friends, therapists, a shoulder to cry on and your rock to rely on.. they are simply angels in scrubs. I couldn't have done my journey without them.
The reason for this fundraiser is for THEM.. not the hospital, not the directors..But for my great support team, in the photo above are some of angels from the Day Treatment Centre at the Calvery Mater Newcastle. The money raised is for them to decide what they might like in their workplace to make their days at work alittle brighter
To achive this is i will be attempting to run 200km at around 6km a day over the month of June
The run will be apart of my rehab having only be able to return to the gym and excercising since Feburary 2025
I hope you can help reward the amazing oncology angels that nurse us through what i know is one of THE worse time in anyones life
Thank you and i hope you can support.
FU Cancer, I kicked your ass!
