Once Upon A Playhouse Goes Broadway

“Magic, Moonlight and Mardi Gras,” a play written by Martha Horstman-Evans, has been chosen to be part of the upcoming New York New Works Festival to be produced at the Duke Theatre on 42nd and Broadway in NYC. The Festival runs from October 3 through November 6. The play is part of “Once Upon A Playhouse” (Real Plays for Real Kids ages 6-11).
Martha is a playwright who believes that every child deserves to be seen and heard. With no auditions and no stars, this unique playwright creates a part for any child who wants to participate. Her work with children includes writing and producing plays with Colfax Community Network, a place where children from homeless shelters can enjoy enriching experiences and just be kids.
Even though this requires a very quick NYC production, Paul Cronley of Merlin Productions and Martha believe it is a risk worth taking. Neither lives in NYC, so they need to create a financial safety net for production costs like scripts, props, rehearsal space, and travel. We want to help them make the most of this amazing opportunity. Any amount is welcome. We assure you the funds will not be used frivolously.
Monies left over after the production will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Good friends Don and Beth Zienty have been allowed back in their Houston home and are now helping others. They have agreed to use any remaining funds to directly help those in need.
