Once-in-a-lifetime trip for a miracle worker!
I met Melonie 6 years ago when we moved to the Alamo and Danville community. She was collecting baby supplies for a family in dire need and I answered her post on NextDoor to donate items from my then infant son. I instantly knew she was a special woman and eventually came to know her better through her grooming business through which she helped us tremendously with our extremely shy German Shephard rescue dog.
Melonie is truly a treasure. She takes in every homeless dog that is brought to her shop and arranges veterinary care for them and keeps them until they find good homes. She even offers free grooming to owners who cannot afford her services. Moreover, she drives dogs to and from their homes for grooming when their owners have limitations and cannot do so themselves. She teaches people how to groom their dogs for free and even gifts them with grooming supplies. She continues to collect infant supplies and brings them to be distributed to needy families. Melonie is so committed to the animals and people she serves that she has not had a vacation in over 12 years.
Not only does Melonie care for so many dogs and people in need, but she also is the caretaker for her sister, who is going blind due to advanced macular degeneration. She and her sister deeply wish to have a special trip to Disneyland together before her sister loses her sight. Melonie confided in me that they do not have the funds to make this trip happen and I asked her permission to start a GoFundMe in her honor to hopefully send her and her sister on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation together.
If you are able to contribute, these funds will provide airfare, transportation, hotel and tickets to Disneyland- a very happy and very expensive place to visit!! My sincere gratitude for reading this, sharing it and contributing.
