Once in A Lifetime - My Selfcare Journey 2.0
Donation protected
Some of you may know that I’ve been planning the trip of a lifetime to Egypt since 2019 (the ultimate self-care experience) after my brother (and last living relative) Frank made his transition.
I was all set to leave on April 2, 2020, and begin my tour in Cairo and, if I were lucky, I’d see a colleague from Cincinnati who teaches at the American University. Then someone decided to hold a pandemic.
*side eye*
I immediately began my quest for a ticket refund since there was no firm reschedule date set to request an exchange. Nearly two years later, after numerous emails requests, hundreds of hours spent in “on-hold” purgatory, exponential busy signals, and chatbots, I am now six weeks out from my rescheduled journey, set to begin April 1. With no airline tickets
Everything was paid for in advance (non-refundable), close to $3K (the tour operator was able to have the vendors hold their prices in the interim). The only missing link now is a roundtrip ticket to Cairo.
At this late date, my optimism has tanked. The cost of an RT airfare is likely to be north of $2500 and my money is tied up in this snafu with Eqypt Air. I don’t have any other funds.
This is where I turn to you for help.
Anything, any assistance, available is greatly appreciated because this is a literal last-ditch effort. I have no family to turn to for a loan (I am the last of the Mohicans) and quite frankly, I'm upset that my back is against the wall due to no fault of my own.
Thank you in advance!
Stay safe and stay blessed!
