Once a Scot, Always a Scot

Macalester Women’s Basketball alumna Lindsey Stefanski (Anderson, Class of 2014) recently lost her 15-month-old son, Henry. Henry was born on September 27, 2022 at 31 weeks. He was diagnosed with a rare congenital disorder that severely affected his heart and lungs, which led to multiple open heart surgeries, a stroke, pulmonary vein stenosis, and other medical complexities over his 436 days of life. Every single possible moment, Lindsey and her husband Travis were by Henry's bedside holding his hand, talking to him, and giving him the best possible life he could have had. We know this comes as no surprise given how dedicated, supportive, and fierce Lindsey was to all of us as a loyal teammate.

With his loving parents by his side, Henry passed on December 7, 2023 from kidney failure. Henry's passing is obviously devastating for Lindsey and her family and, as her friends and former teammates, we were compelled to offer Lindsey another community of support.

With the help of the current Macalester Athletics Department and the athletics alumni community, our hope is to raise $3100 (Lindsey’s basketball number was 31) by February 10, the date marking Henry’s Celebration of Life. Funds raised will offer Lindsey and Travis, support during this acute period of grief, their family’s relocation from Boston (where Henry was receiving care) back to Nashville, parenting a newborn, and self-care.
