Roger Allan Yanes entered an eternal rest on Sunday, January 12, 2025. He is survived by daughter Carrie and son Mario, who are reaching out for support to cover funeral expenses, medical bills, and any other financial responsibilities surrounding the passing of their father that will arise during this time. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help our family honor his memory and give him a fit farewell.
From Carrie:
"My Dad is now on tour in The Great Beyond.
A Renaissance Man, a beautiful Pisces Musician, a gifted and empathic Human Being inhabiting an abyss of knowledge who experienced a wild journey in this life. A singer who sounded eerily similar to Jim Morrison, he learned how to play piano at four years old. He was a proficient Guitarist and an esteemed Drummer. Along with his dear friends Dan and Tommy McClendon they formed ThunderWing, a Seattle Washington 1970's Rock Band. He played in countless bands over the years like Gentle Rose, met and became friends with many well known Musicians/ Bands at the time such as Tesla, UFO, Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses (and yes he did NOT care for Axl Rose one bit but got along great with Slash and Duff) My Dad's path crossed with English Musician Adam Ant and had dinner with him even. My Dad was also an accomplished Martial Artist in the style of Kung Fu, attending tournaments in San Francisco and eventually became an Instructor alongside his brother Ralph at Moore's Karate.
Bruce Lee was his Hero and I can't count how many times I watched Enter the Dragon # Queen is my Dad's most favorite band (then The Beatles) and got to see Queen perform in the 1970's in Seattle - he got to be just feet away from his Idol Freddie Mercury He also was passionate about Antiques and helped run an antique shop with his first Wife Shelly. He learned from his then FIL how to restore furniture and helped import priceless beautiful antiques from England and France. My Dad loved Ludwig Van Beethoven, often boasted how I share my Birthday with him. We would listen to Classical music while he cooked delicious dinners. My favorite memories are of us frequently attending Haggin Museum which he would assure me that my paintings would grace these walls someday. Thank you Dad for instilling my love of music, literature and the arts Thank you for helping me to have the bravery to be my unique self. Thank you for the gift of life, and for my pet snake Dr Seuss. My Dad got to "Break Free."
"If I could plant a flower every time I thought of you, I would walk in a garden forever." - Alfred Lord Tennyson.
Cheers, Daddy."
