On life's journey: Danielle & I need some support

Life is a journey…Danielle and I need some support

I want to tell you about my daughter Danielle.
She is extremely kind, loving and sometimes generous to a fault.
A steadfast friend, she also has the ability to recognize when someone might need some compassion or TLC and is sure to bring them into the fold.  Danielle is polite, well-mannered, and sometimes too serious.

Danielle has been through more in the last 3 years mentally, emotionally and physically than any 17 year old should.  Over the past 3 years, she has been hospitalized 3 times for suicidal ideation and 1 attempt.  She was placed in In Patient (IP) programs twice for 14 days each time.  Between each IP she was placed into Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for 3-4 months following the hospitalization.  Two years of individual and family therapy.
Danielle suffers with depression, anxiety, ADD, severe impulsivity, school refusal and she also exhibits traits of borderline personality disorder.
Honestly, I am grateful for every day that I still have her with me.

I have spent the past year researching therapeutic options that could give D the tools she needs to begin loving and respecting herself. I have recently found a FB group dedicated to families who are dealing with similar experiences, called the Wilderness Therapy and Residential Treatment Search Support.
They have been a God send to me.  I have gained such vital information and support from this group.
Through them I have been able to put aside my own feelings of inadequacy and embarrassment to actually create a Go Fund Me campaign.
The support group has helped me to “get over myself.”  This is not my story. This is Danielle’s life and I will do anything I have to save her from herself.
So, this is me “getting over” my own issues of pride and embarrassment.

The Plan
I have chosen Aspiro, a wilderness therapy program in Utah, for Danielle. Apsiro engages in 4-day outings that include unique experiences (hiking, rock climbing and repelling, trail rides, and snowboarding).  They then have 3 days at base camp to rest up and regroup.  I chose Aspiro because I think it fits D’s temperament, and more specifically because ever week the have Wellness Wednesdays, dedicated to all things related to being a strong, confident female. A day full of celebration, introspection, mindfulness and development of the warrior within. These are some of the ways I believe Danielle will be able to see and love herself the way I and others do.

Estimated and Actual Costs
Transport service:
$3000.00 and $5000.00.  ** Actual cost $3337

*Aspiro Wilderness Therapy: $35,000 - $49,800 for 8-12 weeks depending on her needs.

Actual cost  paid upon Danielle's arrival= initial intake fee including. $3,000 and the first 67 days of service at $495 a day.   Total is $36,165 - $4000 discount  = Final intake cost $32,165

They provide everything and I mean EVERYTHING for the kids.  The kids take nothing with them except medications and glasses/contacts.  She will receive group, individual and family therapy as well as some academics. Right now, I am working with Aspiro and Sky’s the limit to get some scholarship money to reduce costs.

*Therapeutic Boarding School may be a necessary next step.  With all her struggles Danielle is almost 2 years behind in her education.  While I don’t know where or when that might be, they typically cost between $5,000 to $9,800 per month for perhaps 6-12 months.

Travel to and from Utah. Any airline miles or points could also be very useful for travel costs.

So dear souls, whether this is your first time discovering our story, or this is your tenth visit, I am very grateful for your time.  Should you be in a position to contribute, no matter how large or how small, it will be greatly appreciated.

My goal is to keep everyone updated on Danielle’s progress, as well as about expenses.

Peace and Blessings
