Hello my name is Stephanie Bear. I am the wife and mother of the Bear family in Rio Rancho New Mexico. On the 20th of November 2022, we were in a car accident. Our car was totaled. My husband was pinned inside the car, needing extensive surgery to his pelvis and foot surgery, along with broken ribs and having to be cut out of the vehicle. Lina (7), my oldest, had a concussion; she also has her mouth wired shut because her jaw was broken to the point where it needed to be surgically put back into place and held closed to heal properly. My youngest, Kestanya (5), has a broken arm (to high to cast) and a fractured right lower orbital bone—it came with a nasty shiner. I had minimal injuries, including a hematoma tattoo shaped like my seatbelt (praise God we wore them), several cuts, and tremendous amounts of pain that hit after my adrenaline ran out. However, the next couple of months if not longer, I am going to be spending a lot of time, taking care of my children and my husband (who is still in hospital and won’t be home for about a month), figuring out how to get another vehicle and what not I’m trying to request a little bit less than what I would’ve been making if I were working because I haven’t worked at my current job for a full year. I won’t be able to have Family Medical leave but more importantly, I won’t have enough PTO saved up to cover any leave I am given so I am just hoping that people will continue to be generous as they already have been and help me to be able to pay for unexpected medical needs that come up that I can’t pay for with my medical card, phone bills, Christmas presents for the kids, and the rent and other things involved with things that come up related to the crash. I really don’t want to ask, but I have seen miracles happen this way. Thank you for anything you can donate!
