What is ON JOY?

The search for joy is an inevitable need for the human kind. Consciously or subconsciously, one is always seeking joy over pain, balance over crisis, peace over desperation.
We may talk about happiness, pleasure, delight and all the surrounding feelings, but what exactly brings us joy?
ON JOY explores this emotion and its related feelings through an artistic multidisciplinary event in search of manifesting its experience in a multi-sensorial dialogue with the artists; generating an expression that is not only meant to be seen, but to be felt. Through our project we would like you to drift from the uncertainties and difficulties that we all are experiencing nowadays, and remind yourselves what are the daily and simple things that can give us joy.

La ricerca della gioia è una necessità inevitabile per gli esseri umani. Consciamente o inconsciamente, cerchiamo sempre la gioia sul dolore, l'equilibrio sulla crisi, la pace sulla disperazione.
Possiamo parlare di felicità, piacere, contentezza e tutti i sentimenti a loro vicini, ma cosa effettivamente ci porta gioia?
ON JOY esplora questa emozione e i sentimenti ad essa legati, attraverso un evento artistico multidisciplinare volto a creare un dialogo multisensoriale con gli artisti, per generare un'esperienza che non deve solo essere vista, ma anche sentita. Attraverso il nostro progetto vorremmo farvi allontanare dalle incertezze e dalle difficoltà che stiamo vivendo, per ricordarvi quali sono le semplici cose quotidiane che possono darci gioia.

Who are we?
We are international art managers from 12 different countries and 4 continents enrolled at IED - Istituto Europeo di Design attending the Master in Arts Management. As we have different backgrounds and we found ourselves working in the artistic and cultural field during the Covid-19 emergency, our perceptions and creative processes have shifted. Our previous project, At the Edge of Chaos, was presented in Florence and it was an online exhibition examining the collision between complex systems and societal interaction, nature, and human psyche. With our next event, ON JOY, we want to create a multi-sensorial dialogue around the emotion of joy, that can help us reconnect with ourselves and the world that surrounds us.
Chi siamo?
Siamo un gruppo di professionisti internazionali provenienti da 12 paesi diversi e 4 continenti, attualmente iscritti al corso Master in Arts Management di IED - Istituto Europeo di Design.
Venendo da diversi contesti e dovendo adattarci a lavorare nel nuovo scenario artistico e culturale dovuto all’emergenza Covid-19, le nostre percezioni e i nostri processi creativi sono cambiati. Il nostro progetto precedente, At the Edge of Chaos, è stato presentato a Firenze e si trattava di una mostra d’arte online che esaminava la collisione fra i sistemi complessi e l’interazione sociale, la natura e la psiche umana.
Con il nostro prossimo evento, ON JOY, vogliamo creare un dialogo multisensoriale intorno all’emozione della gioia, che possa aiutarci a riconnetterci con noi stessi ed il mondo che ci circonda.
For what do we need your help?
We need your help to explore the meaning of joy, especially in this time of uncertainty where we could all use a reminder of the joy in the daily and simple things. Taking the current restrictions and regulations into consideration, the money which you donate will be used to help us to support the artists by realizing their performances.

Abbiamo bisogno del tuo aiuto per esplorare il vero significato del termine gioia, specialmente al giorno d’oggi, dove tutti abbiamo bisogno di ritrovare questa emozione nelle cose semplici e quotidiane.
