Omar Godinez started his career with Waste Management in 1999 as a temporary worker in Customer Service and since then, he has held several positions in the company such as Customer Service Lead, Supervisor, Dispatch Manager, and recently his new role as the Illinois Missouri Valley Area Dispatch Manager.  Anyone who has ever worked with or for Omar would say that he goes above and beyond every day. When mistakes occur, he focuses on the task at hand and how to fix it. He’s a caring person and his employees are more than that, they’re people and he’s dedicated to their success just as much as his own. He never blames the person but simply addresses the problem. He’s honest, loyal, humble and the type of best friend everyone wants to have.

Out of the office, Omar is a die-hard Chicago sports fan and hardly ever misses a Cubs baseball game or a Bears Football game.  Whenever Omar goes missing, you will usually find him at his favorite pizza place or Mexican restaurant enjoying a meal while rooting for his team.  

On Monday October 5th, Omar became very ill while facilitating training classes in Kansas City and was brought to a local hospital where he was instantly admitted into the intensive care unit. It’s safe to say that Omar was on death’s doorstep while he was fighting a severely acute infection.  The situation was looking very grim as family, friends, and coworkers sat back and watched him helplessly…praying.  Omar remained in the ICU ward for two solid weeks fighting this infection but now he’s slowly getting better every day. He is currently out of the ICU department and into a regular room, where he will remain over the next few weeks recovering.

This GoFundMe account is being set up to help both Omar and his family with traveling and medical expenses as they navigate through Omar’s recovery.
