Dear Friends and Family,
On Friday, on April 30th around 11:30pm that night my uncle Omar was at home with his 12year old son Brandon. My uncle told his son he wanted to give him some advise. Man to man talk. Well that conversation never took place. My uncle had a major heart-attack. His brave 12 yr old son ran across the street to the neighbors house seeking help. Luckily their neighbor was home and he immediately called his husband to the scene who is also a police officer. As soon as he arrived at the scene he noticed my uncle had stopped breathing and performed CPR and was able to feel a pulse. The ambulance arrived and rushed him to the hospital. The Dr's started Therapeutic Hypothermia treatment to lower his body temperature to try and avoid more brain damage as he had ongoing convulsions. He has shown minimal improvement. My uncle is still in a coma, hooked up to a ventilator. It has been determined that he suffered an Anoxic brain injury caused by a complete lack of oxygen being provided to the brain, which results in the death of brain cells after approximately four minutes. There is a lot of inflammation in his brain at this time.
We are all staying optimistic that my uncle will fight this battle. Omar Toro is 54 yrs old and has so much much to live for. We understand that when and if he makes it through this traumatic injury the rehabilitation process can be a lengthy one. It can take months, years and can even cause death. We must prepare for unforeseen as soon as possible.
This fundraiser is set to help offset the cost of medical expenses and the family living expenses for my uncle Omar Toro and his family. His loving wife Brenda has been by his side every single day. These funds will help support his family with any medical expenses as well as living expenses; food, bills, mortgage, gas, the daily necessities during these trying times.
Our family has coordinated days at the hospital to be by his side. Only 2 people are allowed per day and everyone is doing their best to provide support for the family during these difficult times and ongoing prayer chains. If you have it in your heart to support my family I urge you to please make a donation. Any amount is greatly appreciated as we have yet to find out what the final outcome will be.

El Viernes 30 de Abril alrededor de las 11:30 pm de esa noche, mi tío Omar estaba en casa con su hijo Brandon de 12 años. Mi tío le dijo a su hijo que quería darle un consejo. Hablar de hombre a hombre. Bueno, esa conversación nunca tuvo lugar. Mi tío tuvo un infarto masivo. Su valiente hijo de 12 años cruzó la calle corriendo hacia la casa de los vecinos en busca de ayuda. Afortunadamente, su vecino estaba en casa e inmediatamente llamó a su esposo al lugar, quien también es un oficial de policía. Tan pronto como llegó al lugar, notó que mi tío había dejado de respirar y le había realizado RCP y podía sentir el pulso. La ambulancia llegó y lo llevó rápidamente al hospital. El Dr. comenzó un tratamiento de Hipotermia Terapéutica para bajar la temperatura de su cuerpo y tratar de evitar más daño cerebral, ya que tenía convulsiones en curso. Ha mostrado una mejora mínima. Mi tío todavía está en coma, conectado a un ventilador. Se ha determinado que sufrió una lesión cerebral Anóxica causada por una falta total de oxígeno al cerebro, lo que resulta en la muerte de las células cerebrales después de aproximadamente cuatro minutos. Hay mucha inflamación en su cerebro en este momento.
Todos nos mantenemos optimistas de que mi tío peleará esta batalla. Omar Toro tiene 54 años y mucho por lo que vivir. Entendemos que cuando y si supera esta lesión traumática, el proceso de rehabilitación puede ser largo. Puede llevar meses, años e incluso causar la muerte. Debemos prepararnos para imprevistos lo antes posible.
Esta recaudación de fondos está diseñada para ayudar a compensar el costo de los gastos médicos y los gastos de vida de la familia de mi tío Omar Toro y su familia. Su amada esposa Brenda ha estado a su lado todos los días. Estos fondos ayudarán a mantener a su familia con los gastos médicos y los gastos de manutención; alimentos, facturas, hipoteca, gas, las necesidades diarias durante estos tiempos difíciles.
Nuestra familia ha coordinado días en el hospital para estar a su lado. Solo se permiten 2 personas por día y todos están haciendo todo lo posible para brindar apoyo a la familia durante estos tiempos difíciles y las continuas cadenas de oración.
