Hi Friends,
My name is Omar Bernard.
In 2004, my brother Citoli suddenly passed away due to a long standing heart condition that is hereditary in our Family. That incident was so overwhelming that even though I had no known issues with my Heart, I immediately developed a heart condition just after his death.
Doctors said that the event brought on an underlying condition that was always there. It was very scary for me to see that I was now experiencing life-threatening heart palpitations. I consulted with several Doctors and finally one Doctor decided that the best way to manage my condition, considering my family's history, was to have an ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) connected to my heart in order to pace my rhythms and to shock my heart in the event of a life threatening rhythm.
That diagnosis essentially meant that my heart has an electrical issue and the device was needed to pace the rhythm, or as mentioned, shock it to a normal rhythm called a sinus rhythm. To date, I have had two installed over the last 16 years because the life of each device last an average of 7 years .
This now means that I'm due for another device.
However, instead of just the device, Doctor's are recommending that I have an Ablation procedure that would reduce the risk of a shock, however a device is still needed for backup.
I am now in urgent need of funds as my current device is now end of its life, which leaves me unprotected and at risk. To be honest it is a daunting decision each time because the thought of having that much power connected to ones heart, in and of itself, is life changing and scary at times. Your support for this life-saving device would be so appreciated and any assistance would be a great help to me and my family.
