O'Malley, the world's most special cat, has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
O'Malley does not have much longer with us; optimistically, with treatment, he has a few months. I am hoping this chemotherapy will extend his life so he can say goodbye to my dad in person, after my dad has received the Covid vaccine, and give O'Malley one last opportunity to enjoy his favorite pastime, which is sunbathing in my parents' backyard during spring weather.
I am lucky that O'Malley's illness has not put me in a financially precarious position, but the diagnostic vet visits have been very expensive, and treatment is even more expensive. The least expensive chemotherapy option costs more than $4,000. Importantly, I learned that cats do not experience the same painful side effects as people due to the lower dosage administered, so O'Malley's quality of life with treatment will be "good to excellent," according to the oncologist.
I was reluctant to make this fundraiser because there are so many other worthy causes that I believe deserve our attention and resources, but I have been overwhelmed with messages of support from friends and family who want to pitch in. Knowing how truly loved O'Malley is by all of you has touched me deeply and I know that despite the physical separation, he can feel your love and support too.
If O'Malley has made you smile and you are able to contribute to his cancer treatment, he and I would be so grateful.
With love and gratitude,
Celine
