Olympia Spartan Football Fall 2022

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Eric Lyons, and I am the head football coach at Olympia High School. Over the past four seasons, I am very proud of some of our accomplishments: We currently have three former players playing college football at various institutions around the state of Illinois; in the spring of 2021, we had the winningest season at Olympia High School since 1996; and this past season (fall 2021), we had a team GPA of greater than 3.0 for the first time since they have tracked that statistic at Olympia High School. That being said, The fall 2022 football season is right around the corner. We are incredibly excited about the upcoming season. A few items worth mentioning are:

  • This will be our first year competing in the Sangamo Conference. Member Schools are Maroa- Forsyth, Williamsville, New Berlin, Athens, Petersburg-Porta, Auburn, Pittsfield, Plesant Plains, and Riverton. The Sangamo is a very competitive league (Williamsville and Maroa have made the state title game within the last ten years), and I believe an excellent fit for our school.
  • We will have over 50 boys on the roster this fall for the third year straight, with 20+ freshmen signed up to play.
  • We return 17 of 22 starters from last year's team, several of which are drawing attention from college football programs. We have two seniors, Blaine Halley and Reygan Sitton, who have already decided that they will continue playing football following high school. Blaine currently has five FCS level scholarship offers to ISU, SIU, EIU, Austin Peay, and Lindenwood University. Reygan has been offered roster spots at Augustana University and St. Joseph's University.

We are amazed at how much the Olympia community has come to our support each year we have done this. Thanks to your generosity last season, we were able to: Purchase a very cool new entry tunnel for our entrance at home games, pay our yearly fee for our sideline replay system, paint and update our press box area, get sideline gear for our trainers and volunteer assistant coaches, and make sure our all the boys at every level are fed on gameday. Our goal is always to make being a part of the football program a first-class experience. Furthermore, we hope to make this an experience free and accessible to all our student-athletes. We have families from various backgrounds, and fundraisers such as this ensure that each player gets a similar experience, not just those who are most fortunate. I expect this year to be no different.

The following items are the things we hope to fundraise for this season:

Eureka College Team Camp- This is one of my favorite experiences for our players. We go to Eureka College, spend two nights in their dorms and compete and practice against other teams. It is critical to our success; our players have been unable to go for the past two years due to Covid restrictions. It is the culminating experience of the summer for the program, and the cost is approximately $100 per player x 50 players for an approximate cost of $5000

Hudl Sideline- This is a video breakdown software we use for game-planning for upcoming opponents and has an annual fee of $1000

Gamestrat Video Replay - This is a sideline replay system we use to make gameday adjustments. It is an annual a subscription fee of $1500

Gameday and Team Meals for the players. The cost of this is approximately $10 per week per player; if there are 9 weeks in the season, and we have 50 players; the cost of this is roughly $4500.

Exogear Portable Bluetooth Outdoor Speaker. The speaker will be used for practice and game day in the locker room. Furthermore, a portable speaker allows us to use segment timers and play music during practice. Consequently, We wil stay on schedule and add energy and enthusiasm to the practice environment.

Cleats and Gear for less fortunate families- Every season, we have a few families who need financial help. With record levels of inflation I expect this need to be even greater this year. Having this extra money allows us to purchase necessities for those who cannot.

Donations of 100 dollars or more will receive a pass to all home football games for the 2022 season. Donations of $500+ will receive four home game passes and a replica helmet. If you would like to sponsor a specific item, for example, a team camp for a particular player ($100) or a team meal ($500), please feel free to email me at [email redacted]. We appreciate your support, and Go Spartans!!!
