Ollie’s vet bills and recovery

Hey everyone,
Last night on the 01/03/23 at around 8pm, my rescue baby Ollie got himself out of the back yard while we went to the laundromat and ran straight for the oval across the road. Unfortunately as he ran across 4 busy lanes, Ollie was hit by a car.
Thankfully a crowd gathered and multiple cars stopped to help him.
When we returned home shortly after and realised he wasn’t there, we went straight to door knocking near the park and were so lucky that the first door i knocked on knew exactly what had happened. This lovely human (shout out to Daff and his awesome daughter) had taken everyone’s details and was able to tell me which emergency vet he was rushed to by a wonderful woman named Alexia (thank you again). By sheer luck, another person there with him was a Mobile veterinarian and was able to treat him accordingly before he went on his way.

We got to the Emergency Department straight away and we’re immediately faced with $2000 upfront to cover the cost of his X-rays, pain medications and assessments with opinions of a broken leg and hip.

Ollie was transferred to Lort Smith Animal Hospital this morning where it was confirmed that he had a mid Diaphyseal fracture (femur snapped in half) and hip dysplasia.
The surgery required to fix this is urgent as he is still a growing baby.
The cost of the surgery is $5500 and needs to be paid by Sunday the 05/03/23. If this can not be done, Ollie will have to go through an amputation of his back left leg.

Ollie’s recovery is suspected to be 6 weeks full time in a crate which needs to be large enough to contain his food and water bowls. Unfortunately for him, he will be facing this jail time to full term for being a cheeky boy and trying to play at the park without me.

It’s not easy for me to ask for help, but with these heavy costs and a very long road to recovery for my baby, I’m devastated and at a complete loss. Hoping I can can turn to the community for help.

We rescued Ollie with the intention of providing him the best life that he deserves and I intend to fulfil that.

Every donation counts.

Thank you so much.
