dear friends,
We are reaching out to you today with a heavy heart, our beloved Ollie, a 3-year-old border collie, ate the head of a toy and after 12 days it had caused a mechanical obstruction to his intestines. It was an extremely scary and stressful situation for us, and we were fortunate to have quick access to VERG Emergency & Referral Group in Brooklyn.
The skilled and compassionate veterinary team at VERG ER acted quickly and decisively, taking Ollie into surgery immediately upon his arrival. Despite the complexity and seriousness of the situation, they were able to successfully remove the obstruction and save Ollie's life. We are so grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at VERG ER for their incredible work and dedication to our furry family member.
However, the cost of Ollie's emergency surgery and hospitalization was substantial. As much as we were willing to pay, it was an unexpected expense that we could not fully cover. We are now turning to our community for help. We are asking for donations to help us cover a portion of the surgical costs and to ensure that Ollie receives the ongoing care and attention he needs as he recovers.
Ollie is a truly special dog. This fuzzy semi-toothless tornado of energy is smart, loving, and endlessly curius. We can't imagine life without him, and we know that many of you feel the same way about your own furry friends.
That's why we are reaching out to you today - we know that the animal-loving community is one of the most supportive and generous out there, and we hope that you can help us during this difficult time.
We are grateful for any and all donations, no matter how small. Every little bit helps and will go directly towards Ollie's medical bills and ongoing care. Thank you in advance for your generosity, your kindness.
With gratitude,
Jess and Ollie
