Hi guys my name is Patrick and I’m a mechanic who works in Eltham and owns a couple of workshops there.
Before Christmas 2020 I was running a free service day for those people who are affected badly by Covid and wanted to make sure that their car was safe for the Christmas period. During this time I was contacted by Olivers mother who was concerned and was seeking help for Oliver.
She started by explaining her 18yo son was passed down his first car from his grandfather in order to start his apprenticeship. He loved this old ute and was looking forward to showing his grandfather the work he has done on it after lockdown ended. Sadly he didn’t get this chance as the ute was stolen with his tools while he was at work.
He was then sold a Hilux by 2 less than kind salesmen which was promised with a roadworthy. After they received the vehicle they found the vehicle had serious chassis damage costing $7500. Straight after this the flywheel and starter motor failed and at this time we offered to do the repair labour free. Since then he has replaced the turbo at a cost of $3500 and now the motor has finally given up the ghost. He’s spent the whole of lockdown without a vehicle and at times when restrictions lifted hasn’t been able to do any of the things he enjoys without a vehicle. He’s suffered twice at the hands of less than reputable people and we think it’s time to give a young kid a break. He’s a hardworking kid who’s worked since the age of 15 and now has nothing due to a couple of deceitful people.Being a family run business we understand this financial burden at this time is extremely hard for not only Oliver but his family as well and being an empathetic business person I wanted to see if I could reach out to some great people and possibly generate enough money in order to reimburse him for his turbo and also rebuild his current motor. I have left enough room in the budget for some added extras to ensure that it is safe and running well so we can finally give Oliver back a great running car and put this whole process behind us.

I do not intend on making a profit on this car however I just want to make sure that I cover my staff costs at the cost of the parts and machine.
