This is my lovely niece Olivia. She is an amazing gymnast. At 13, she knows exactly what she wants to do with her life: become a sports physical therapist and help kids recover from injuries while at the same time, coach others in gymnastics. She has big plans, but tragically, her dad -- my brother, Matthew Bovell -- passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 15th, from pneumonia. Matt was thoughtful, intelligent, insightful, witty, and was an entertaining writer and blogger whose musings on music, politics and television were something his friends and acquaintances looked forward to daily. His loss has left a void -- for me, his wife Trish, Olivia, and those who knew him for 20+ years and those who had met him recently via social media from his webinar and bookkeeping ventures.
This scholarship fund is being established to help Olivia achieve her goals: she wants to continue competing in gymnastics and one day, pursue studies in physical therapy. Matt was already so proud of Olivia and what she's already accomplished in her young life, and we want to keep Matt's spirit alive by giving our support and encouragement to a confident, self-assured, grounded young woman who will carry her father in her heart always.
