Rose's Transition Fund

Hi there! I’m Olivia – I’m a trans woman from the U.K.

I came out two years ago, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I don’t have to try to be someone else anymore; I get to be me. I have hope for my future for the first time in my life.

According to NHS guidelines people like me shouldn’t be allowed to wait more than 18 weeks for an initial appointment with a Gender Identity Clinic. These clinics are only now seeing patients referred in 2017 (after over 100 weeks) – and the waiting times are getting longer. While I feel more alive than ever, I know I have to transition, and I can’t wait a decade to do so.

I’ve seen a specialist psychologist who has confirmed I meet the diagnostic criteria of Gender Dysphoria and recommended I start Hormone Replacement Therapy. I am hoping I can afford to see this through with a mixture of private appointments and shared care with my GP.

This fund is primarily aimed at funding Gender Confirmation Surgery (sometimes known as Sexual Reassignment Surgery). I wish I could put into words what it would mean for me to be able to have this happen, but it’s beyond me to convey it. What I can say is that coming out and getting to be me has saved my life, and taking this step would free me to live it so fully.

The goal is currently set at £20,000 because, although it will likely cost more, I don't yet have any precise quotes and I'm trying to save money where I can alongside this fund.

I would really appreciate your support, whether that’s by donating or even just sharing this page. Thank you for taking the time to hear about my journey.
