Olivia’s Rainbowtastic Play Structure
Olivia is a seemingly typical 3 1/2 year old with endless energy that she channels into dancing, playing, cooking, and doing her makeup. You would never know by looking at her that she has Aplastic Anemia, a rare form of bone marrow failure that has left her reliant on donated blood product transfusions to stay alive. Her condition has also left her with a compromised immune system and a high risk of bleeding, which means Olivia’s trips to the playground have been few and far between.
Thanks to Be The Match and a generous bone marrow donor, all of this is about to change — although slowly. After Olivia’s June 25 bone marrow transplant, she will need to spend 100 days in relative isolation while her immune system recovers. Even after this recovery period passes, it is unlikely she will be able to use public play structures for some time, due to the risk of contracting COVID-19 or the flu.

Why A Play Structure?
Because Olivia has seldom had the opportunity to use public play structures, she has long envisioned her ideal setup, with a rainbow house and slides and swings. She dreams of her own house where she can paint, do makeup, cook, and “camp out,” a fun but safe space she can make her own and grow into over the years.
Due to the shape and setup of our back yard, a pre-fabricated structure will not work; we have to have one custom built. Thankfully, A non-profit foundation has stepped in to provide Olivia’s dream playhouse. However, in order to complete the project and fully grant Olivia’s wish, we need your help.

The Financial Impact
We are estimating that it will take an additional $4,000-$5,500 to give Olivia her dream play structure. The elements we are looking to fund are:
* Lookout Pirate Tower ($1500 estimate)
* 7- to 8-Foot Spiral Slide off Tower ($1000 estimate)
* Playhouse Loft with Entrance to Tower ($1000 estimate)
* Swing ($500 estimate)
* Rubber Safety Mulch & Border ($1500 estimate)
(We will update these numbers as we determine actual costs.)
If all goes well after Olivia’s June 25 transplant, she is looking at a 5- to 6-week hospital stay. We are hoping to have this project completed before she comes home, if at all possible. This means we have to move fast in securing funds so we can make a commitment with the builder.

Gratitude
We are extremely grateful to Be The Match and Olivia’s donor for making treatment for her condition possible, as well as to the non-profit foundation for helping us jumpstart Olivia’s dream. In addition, so many kind people have already sent Olivia cards and gifts. Now, we are requesting that this generosity be channeled into creating Olivia’s rainbowtastic play structure.

While Olivia has her match, there are over 12,000 patients waiting to find theirs. Please considering joining Be The Match - You could save someone's life.
