It has been confirmed, from a second MRI (MRCP) that was evaluated by a pediatric radiology expert out of Beaumont, that our little girl, Oliviana, does indeed have a rare type 1 choledochal cyst. In addition, she has recently been diagnosed with abdominal migraines. This has been a very stressful time mentally, physically, and financially. As the only treatment for the choledochal cyst is surgery and it is a rare condition in this country (about 1 in 100,000 births), we are now embarking on the task of finding a qualified surgeon to operate on Oliviana. We are asking for help as we take this journey with Oliviana.
Even with health insurance, this has been, and will continue to be a pricey journey for us. As Oliviana is already six years old, we are glad the choledochal cyst was found now, rather than when she is older and had progressed to something malignant. Obviously, we can't let that happen to her. No one deserves that. Even with surgery, she will need bloodwork and ultrasounds to make sure she doesn't develop cancer as time goes on.


Oliviana is one of the kindest little girls you will ever meet or hear about. She is our best buddy. She is her little, special needs, sister's helper. She is intelligent and constantly seeking knowledge. We are proud of her everyday and love who she is becoming, even at this young age. Both of our girls are the center of our world and we would do anything and everything to help them. However, with this, we are humbly asking for help.
