Olivia's battle with cancer

The "C" word

Olivia's fight for Life.

Olivia is a rare beauty at the cusp of all that life's potential holds for any Fort Collins young adult. As a vibrant 20 year old, she has been caring for others as long as she could walk. Her life as the younger sister of a brother with autism and high medical needs, placed Olivia in the role of assistant care taker of siblings throughout her childhood, often filling the role of mother in the home during Her brothers long hospital stays out of state. Olivia has a heart for kiddos with special needs and volunteers her time with special needs kids in Fort Collins when not with her family, working as a manager at Cold Stone or attending school to pursue a career in medically enhanced physical therapy.

Life Interrupted

Late last October Olivia was juggling her happy active life when at work she was struck down in pain that landed her in the ER.
The confounding array of symptoms led to a fast and furious battery of testing which revealed a mass the size of an orange.
A few weeks later and a ton of scans and tests later, the malignancy was the size of a grapefruit and diagnosed as a rare,  aggressively metastatic form of cancer called Yolk Sac tumor.

Olivia was scheduled for emergency surgery the day after Christmas and her normally happy go lucky Rocky Mountain High life dreams of blazing her trail forward with her collegiate peers, has turned into day, after day of trips to Aurora for oncologists, blood work and the daunting Chemo treatments with all the unforgiving side effects and being forced to drop all classes until the healing process can begin.

Aside from the threat to life that cancer poses, the harsh reality of insurance denials and soaring medical costs are pressing Olivia's chances at LIFE into a confusing struggle of time and resources while suffering the effects of chemotherapy treatment.

The best part of American culture shines in the darkest times, and the community culture  of Fort Collins a bright example of neighborhood togetherness. As Coloradans we know, that when a lot come together NOTHING is unachievable.  Olivia can kick cancer to the curb and still have her mountain top experiences with your help.
Please consider donating what you can towards Olivia's medicals costs as she faces her new future.
Thank you,
