Olivia Mcgoldricks P Pod Chair

As some of you may already be aware Olivia has been waiting to have 3 major surgery’s for her spine her hips and her legs. At present Olivia has a very significant curve at the bottom of her spine which has left her pelvis, hips and legs significantly tilted and twisted leaving Olivia uncomfortable and sometimes in pain even just sitting. Her chair provided by OT was sent back as it was no longer suitable for Olivias needs. It wasn’t protecting her posture and keeping her in a suitable position and also digging into her twisted body causing marks to her little pelvis and hips. She currently can not go into hospital for any of her surgery’s as the surgeons, doctors, paediatricians and nurses all think it’s to dangerous because of her being high risk of contracting covid 19 and becoming very unwell. Doctors are currently in talks about them being to dangerous for Olivia to undergo surgery even in a world without coronavirus,  as she has regular epileptic fits and no significant and stable weight gain m, leaving her underweight and vulnerable. This means that even though surgery’s are planned to go ahead in the near future doctors may make the devastating decision that Olivia can not undergo them because it isn’t safe for her to do so. Whilst all this is going on, Olivia has been left with no comfy place to sit other than in her wheel chair. She isn’t able to sit alone and doesn’t have the posture to do supported sitting anymore. She cannot lie on the floor for long periods of time, as this also isn’t comfortable for her, so she’s being moved between her wheel chair and her bed most of the time and then some short periods of floor time throughout the day. Olivia has been assessed privately with her physio by a company for a chair called  P pod chair. This chair will be moulded to Olivias body hopefully giving her body support and restricting her from twisting her body any further whilst also keeping her comfortable and giving her the ability to interact with her siblings without being in distress. As always with this kind of equipment for children with additional needs it comes with a high cost. The chair itself with a little table to place on top so Olivia can still have access to her favourite things is approximately £1474.39 If any of Gemma's friends & family would like to donate anything would be muchly appreciated.
