I am very proud to announce that my youngest daughter Olivia has been selected to represent Australia at the 2019 World Rowing Championships - under 23 (at the age of 19), in Florida USA.
As the Championships are in July 2019 and this will be Liv's first international competition, we have not had the opportunity to secure sponsorship so I am calling on friends, family, colleagues to help. We are conservatively estimating cost to be around $8000 to attend, this will include a month of rowing camps in Sydney and Florida immediately prior to the competition.
Olivia started her rowing journey at MLC in year 9 at the age of 14. She made the First 8 in year 10 and progressed to the number 1 Stroke position in years 11 and 12. Liv was awarded MLC Oarswoman of the Year in 2017.
Liv has since progressed on to the WAIS Rowing Program representing WA in 2018 and 2019. This culminated recently with her selection for the Australian Team heading to Florida for the World Championships.
Olivia's dedication and commitment to achieving her goals of becoming an olympic medalist sees her gruelling training schedule start on the water at 5am, 5days a week for as many as 6hrs a day. On top of this intense training routine, Liv is studing Sports Science at Uni and part time work as a Rowing Coach.
Any support or financial donations, no matter how small, you are able to offer us would be greatly appreciated to see Liv achieve this major milestone at such a young age.
