Last weekend, Olive was diagnosed with a severe anemia which has failed to respond to conventional therapy (multiple blood transfusions, immunosuppressives, antibiotics). Despite numerous tests and empiric treatments, we are still puzzling over a diagnosis for my sweet girl.
I adopted Olive 2.5 years ago as a kitten from a humane society in Canada. She has been my consistent companion throughout my internship and residency. I can’t bear the thought of losing her at such a young age and I’m hoping to pursue more diagnostic and therapeutic options for her.
Thankfully, Olive is insured with Trupanion, but the out-of-pocket expenses have been hard to keep up with on a resident salary. I’ve made this GoFundMe in an effort to offset these costs. I understand that folks may not be in a position to help out financially, but any support is deeply appreciated.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to extend their condolences and support. Olive & I are especially thankful to UIUC Internal Medicine (Drs Smiley, Kuo, Reinhart) and CSU Internal Medicine (Drs Leduc and Shropshire) for their commitment to her care.
