My name is Oliver (he/him) and I am a trans person living in Toronto, Ontario. I have been on testosterone for 1 year and I have never been happier. My next step is to change my name to Oliver in both the UK, where I was born and Canada, where I live now. Moving through the world with my birth name is becoming increasingly difficult. I avoid places where I have to show my ID and have to correct my teachers and fellow students at school constantly, as you can imagine, this quickly becomes exhausting.

Another step of mine is top surgery. I have been binding my chest for almost 7 years and I cannot continue with the increasing damage it is causing in my shoulders and upper back. Top surgery will change my life indefinitely, I will no longer be scared of wearing t-shirts and I will gain a confidence and sense of self I have never known.

My consultation for surgery is approaching and in order to secure my surgery date I need to provide an upfront payment. I am asking for help with funds for both my surgery and name change because I simply cannot afford to go through with these things in my covid-19 job situation whilst studying.

$136 for new passport

$137 for name change in Ontario

$50 for new PR card

$3000 to cover surgery date security fee and consultation, the remainder of the fee is covered by Ontario health insurance.
